Ten found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The defendants faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the couple's significant age difference.

The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.

A longstanding conspiracy theory suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.

This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.

Their complaint alleges that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she was a teacher at his lycée.

The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
