Her Royal Highness's Annual Yuletide Service of Carols Pays Tribute to Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her yearly Christmas carol concert at the iconic London venue, with guests including royals, celebrities and local heroes who have helped their communities.

The 1,600 guests will hear a selection of carols, music and readings from actors such as award-winning actors.

Focusing on Kindness and Compassion

The focus of the concert, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on the afternoon, is generosity and expressing affection towards one's neighbour.

In the audience are a couple named the Cordiners, whose child passed away from a brain tumour, and who established a foundation, a support fund, to aid parents with a child with a terminal illness.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any thought of thanks or praise, make an extraordinary difference to the well-being of people," Her Royal Highness stated in a message before the concert.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own measured re-emergence to public life after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, in November making her major oration since 2023, in which she discussed recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".

Music and Opportunity

Guests arriving at the Abbey will enjoy performances from talented youth performers supported by the charitable trust Future Talent, set up with the help of the former royal to widen access to music lessons.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who is a trumpet player and is from Pembrokeshire, has been supported by the charity, with grants helping towards musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in tonight's service.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," she stated. She is now a student at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to hone their artistic talents.

Generations Gathering

Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will likewise attend the Abbey. "I never thought I'd be able to play there in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Attending the service will be representatives of different generations.

That will include nine-year-old Saphia Turner, winner of a young hero award, who produces drawings and undertakes charity feats to raise money for food banks.

Festive Decor and Performances

The Abbey has been decorated with specially made wreaths, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, choristers from Westminster Abbey and a nautical singing ensemble, the group Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "a dream come true."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be broadcast on television on December 24th.
